About Is It Recalled?
Why we built a single place to check every UK recall.
Every year thousands of products, foods, vehicles, medicines and pet products are recalled in the UK. But the official notices are split across half a dozen different government services, each with its own website, format and search – so most people never hear about a recall that affects them.
Is It Recalled? brings them all together. We check the official sources every 15 minutes, turn each notice into a clear answer – what’s affected, what the problem is and exactly what to do – and link straight back to the original notice.
Where the information comes from
- Products – the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) product recalls and alerts.
- Food and allergy alerts – the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
- Food in Scotland – Food Standards Scotland.
- Vehicles – the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
- Medicines and medical devices – the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
- Pet medicines – the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD).
- Retailer notices – official recall notices published by retailers including IKEA and Lidl.
Government information is published under the Open Government Licence v3.0. We are an independent service, not a government website. Always follow the official notice linked on each page – if anything we show differs from it, the official notice is right.
Who runs it
Is It Recalled? is built and run by Nocturnal Media, a UK web studio. The site is free to use and is paid for by advertising and a small number of clearly labelled affiliate links.
