What’s wrong

On a number of Abarth 600 vehicles due to a production nonconformity there is a requirement to inspect the brake pedal bracket connection and if necessary perform a rework to eliminate any potential risk of brake pedal disengagement In the event of brake pedal failure the Electronic Park Brake located on the centre console can be applied while driving to bring the vehicle to a controlled stop. Additionally when active the Automatic Emergency Braking system will intervene if it detects an imminent collision.

The fix

The permanent repair involves the Abarth dealer checking for the presence of the clip confirming correct assembly and reworking it if necessary in accordance with Abarth reference F53F.
