What’s wrong
On affected vehicles the driver air bag inflator may experience an alteration over time which could lead to overaggressive combustion in the event of airbag deployment. This condition could create excessive internal pressure resulting in the body of the inflator rupturing upon deployment leading to metal fragments passing through the air bag which may cause injury or death to vehicle occupants.
The fix
Replace the driver air bag module assembly.
