Hazard

The product has been identified as presenting a high risk of electric shock and fire as the product is advertised as weatherproof, but the product’s cord is not suitable for outdoor usage. This can lead the cord to deteriorate over time, exposing live parts which could give an electric shock to a consumer. Additionally, if the cord degrades, there is a potential for live wires to touch, overheat and ignite, causing a fire. The product also requires improvements to marking, labelling and instructions.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

Corrective action

The import has been rejected at the border and destroyed.
