Hazard

The product presents a serious chemical risk as the plastic seal material on the wooden bottles were found to contain 3.8 ± 1.1 Diisononyl phthalate (DINP). As the item can be mouthed by children, this exceeds the maximum specified limit. Phthalates may harm the health of children, possibly causing damage to the reproductive system.

Additionally, the product presents a risk of choking as the eyes and nose on the soft plush dog toy can easily detach. They form a small part which could be placed in a child’s mouth, causing them to choke.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 or the REACH Regulations 2008.

Corrective action

The import has been rejected at the border and destroyed.
