The product presents a serious risk of fire because the electric air pump has an incorrectly rated fuse. A compliant, correctly rated fuse is required to ensure the safe operation of the product under fault conditions. Should a fault occur, the plug may overheat and catch fire. In addition, the mains supply cord has excessive resistance, which may also lead to localised overheating and fire. Improvements are also required to product labelling and marking.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets etc (Safety) Regulations 1994.
Corrective action
The import has been rejected at the border and the pumps have been destroyed.
